Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made a blazing start to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has been ruled out of the tournament. The 14-year-old batsman, who plays for Bihar, had to leave the tournament after just one match due to a special reason. This is due to a special award he is to receive from the President of India, and for this, he flew to Delhi after his first match.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 began on Wednesday, December 24th. Bihar's first match was against Arunachal Pradesh, and Vaibhav scored a century in that match. The left-handed star opener created a stir with his astonishing and record-breaking innings of 190 runs in just 84 balls. During his innings, Vaibhav reached 150 runs in just 59 balls, breaking AB de Villiers' world record for the fastest 150.
Which award will Vaibhav receive?
Actually, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be honored with the Prime Minister's National Child Award by the central government this year. President Draupadi Murmu will present this special award to him at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday, December 26th. Vaibhav will also meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during this time. Even after this, he will not be able to play in the tournament as he will join the Under-19 team, which will depart for South Africa on December 30th.
