Fans eager to watch Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli in action will have to wait a little longer. Despite a strong return to domestic cricket in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kohli is unlikely to feature in Delhi’s next match scheduled for Tuesday, January 6.
Earlier, it was believed that Kohli would play one more game for Delhi in the tournament. However, fresh reports suggest that the former Indian captain will now be seen directly in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, skipping the third Vijay Hazare Trophy match.
Kohli had joined the domestic tournament following directives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, marking his return to domestic cricket after nearly 15 years. Representing Delhi, he made an immediate impact, scoring a brilliant century against Andhra and following it up with a solid 77-run knock against Gujarat.
After these performances, Kohli reportedly left to spend time with his family, further indicating that his domestic stint has concluded for now. With preparations underway for international commitments, fans are expected to see Kohli back in competitive action during the India–New Zealand ODI series later this month.
