“Wearing Rs for 4 Hours?” – Vikrant Massey Opens Up on Failing at Bollywood’s Glam Game

Vikrant Massey, known for his powerful performances and grounded persona, has never chased stardom the conventional way. While most stars lean heavily on glitz, designer labels, and PR machinery, Vikrant recently revealed how trying to follow that path left him feeling disconnected and uncomfortable — not to mention financially burdened.

In a candid conversation with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast, Vikrant opened up about his short-lived stint with the “glamorous PR life” of Bollywood. He confessed that at one point, he questioned whether he was doing the right thing by staying away from high-profile parties, photoshoots, and PR-fueled appearances. “There are days when I ask myself if I should present myself in a certain way. Should I get my dad to take my photos like others do?” he said, adding, “There’s traction in that too.”

However, his honest attempt to fit into that world didn’t last long. Vikrant shared that he gave it a shot for about four to six months — attending industry parties and even renting designer clothes for events. But it quickly became clear that this wasn’t for him. “It costs so much money to wear clothes just once. Rs 50,000 to 60,000 for just a day, for one event,” he said, calling it financially absurd. “My wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, said — why? That’s our entire monthly expense!”

The actor admitted that wearing expensive outfits he didn’t own made him anxious rather than stylish. “I was so cautious about not spilling anything on those clothes. I had to return them, and that pressure was too much,” Vikrant said, concluding, “I tried, and I failed. It wasn’t me.”

While he may have stepped away from the Bollywood glam race, Vikrant Massey’s authenticity has only deepened his connection with the audience. Currently, he’s gearing up for Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan and has also bagged a role in the much-anticipated Don 3. And it’s clear — Massey is playing the long game, on his own terms.
