Weather Update: Rain wreaks havoc in many states before monsoon, possibility of rain in Delhi-UP too...

The havoc of changing weather is being seen from North-West India to East, Central, and South India. The mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and the plains of North India are experiencing rain accompanied by thunderstorms, snowfall, hailstorms, lightning, and thunder. In some areas, the outbreak of intense heat also persists. At the same time, heavy rains have occurred in many areas of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Roads in Bangalore were flooded, water entered houses in many areas and boats had to be launched in the metropolis for relief and rescue. 11 people have also died and many have been injured in storms and rain-related incidents in various states. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in many parts of the country for the next few days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that a low-pressure area has formed from Punjab to Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and North Gangetic region of West Bengal to North Bangladesh. Cyclonic circulation of upper air is also persisting over the north-east Arabian Sea adjoining South Gujarat. Due to these meteorological systems, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 30-50 kmph are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh today and in Uttarakhand and plains of North-West India till May 24. Heat wave is likely in western Rajasthan till May 22.
Chance of rain for five days in Delhi-NR
The Meteorological Department has forecast that there is a possibility of rain in the capital Delhi from 20 to 25 May. In such a situation, there is a possibility of rain till Sunday. During this time the sky will remain partly cloudy. Light to very light rain is likely along with strong winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph, which can temporarily reach 50 kmph with thunder. In such a situation, the minimum temperature will decrease. The mercury may drop to 38 degrees Celsius. On May 21, the maximum temperature can be between 37 to 39 and the minimum temperature can be between 26 to 28 degree Celsius. The temperature can fluctuate from 1 to 3 degree Celsius. In the morning, surface winds can blow from the northwest direction at a speed of 20-25 km per hour and gradually decrease and by evening their speed can be less than 15 km per hour.
Weather will change in UP
The weather is going to change again in Uttar Pradesh. Also, there is a possibility of getting some relief from the scorching heat and heat wave for a few days. According to the Meteorological Department, there are signs of drizzle with strong winds and thunderstorms from east to west in UP between May 20 and 23. The expansion of easterly winds and drizzle in the Terai areas will now be seen in both the eastern and western divisions of the state.
Rain alert here too
According to the Meteorological Department, an east-west trough is formed from Punjab to North Bangladesh. As a result, heavy rains are expected in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Bangalore, Karnataka, Konkan, Odisha and Goa, Kerala as well as Mumbai for the next several days.
Water rises in Beas river due to rain and melting of glaciers
The Beas river has suddenly increased due to melting of glaciers due to rain and excessive heat in Himachal Pradesh. Officials of the Pandoh dam located in Mandi district have advised people not to go to the river bank as there may be a situation of releasing water from the dam at any time. The Sansari-Kilad-Tindi-Thirot road has been blocked due to sudden floods in Udaipur subdivision of Lahaul-Spiti. It has been raining in some parts of the state since Sunday evening. Mandi has recorded 16.4 mm of rainfall. The Meteorological Department had already issued a yellow alert regarding rain.
Tree fell on tent in Shopian, girl died
A 10-year-old girl died and her father was injured when a tree uprooted and fell on a tent in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir due to a strong storm. The tree fell on the tent of a nomadic family in Keller area. Strong winds blew in the Kashmir Valley on Sunday night, causing heavy damage to houses and other buildings. The roofs of many houses were blown away and trees and electric poles fell. Heavy damage is also reported in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of lightning and heavy rain with strong winds in some areas of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts in the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand till May 23.
Seven deaths in Maharashtra-Jharkhand due to lightning
Five people were killed and six were injured in incidents of lightning in Garhwa and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand. Three people have died in Garhwa and two in Hazaribagh. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert predicting hailstorm and lightning in some parts of the state. At the same time, two people died due to lightning in Jalna and Latur districts of Maharashtra. In another incident of lightning in Latur, 17 cattle also died. Incidents of lightning are occurring in the Marathwada region of the state along with pre-monsoon rains.
