However, there are some secret tricks that allow you to discreetly view someone's status without making a scene. The safest way to do this is to go to WhatsApp's in-built settings and turn off 'Read Receipts'.

WhatsApp allows its users to see who has viewed their status updates. However, there are some ways to view someone's status updates without their knowledge, that is, without showing your name in the list of viewers. Some of these methods involve in-built privacy settings. There is a 'Read Receipts' option in WhatsApp's settings. Once this is turned off, whenever you view someone's status, they will not be aware of it. This is one of the easiest and safest methods, but users should keep in mind that by doing this, even the users themselves will not be able to see who has viewed their status updates. Apart from this, there are other ways through which you can view someone's status update without the other person knowing.

Method 1: Turn off Read Receipts

• This is the easiest and most reliable method. Follow the steps below to secretly view other people's WhatsApp statuses.
• Open WhatsApp on your phone.
• Click the three-dot menu on Android and Settings on iPhone.
• Then you have to go to privacy.
• After this, you will find the option 'Read Receipts' here. Click on it.
• Now open and view the Status update.

Second method

• Another way is to use Airplane Mode. This trick works when you take your phone offline and open and view the status.
• To do this, open WhatsApp and let the status upload.
• Turn on Airplane Mode and turn off mobile data or Wi-Fi. Open the Status you want to view.
• Then, close WhatsApp completely, turn off Airplane Mode, and reconnect to the internet.

Keep these things in mind

• Keep 'Read Receipts' turned off until the other person's status disappears after 24 hours. If you enable this option earlier, your name may still appear in the viewer list.
• Note that the Airplane Mode method will only work if WhatsApp is completely closed before reconnecting online.
