You must have heard the name of Iddat, but do you know that Iddat is also of two types. The first Iddat is that which is done after the death of the husband and the second Iddat is that which is done after divorce.
Today in this article we will tell you about Iddat after divorce which is a rule made by the society. Iddat is a process related to divorce in Islam. It is mandatory for every Muslim woman to follow it. This is a kind of waiting period which usually starts after the death of the husband or divorce and in both the cases the days of Iddat are different.
Iddat after divorce
There are two types of Iddat, one is observed after the death of the husband and the other after divorce. If the husband of a Muslim woman dies, she has to complete the period of Iddat of 4 months and 10 days. In case of divorce, this period is of three months. During this period of Iddat after divorce, the husband and wife have to sleep in the same room for 30 days. In Islam, after divorce between husband and wife, the wife has to follow the period of Iddat. This period is of three months and during this time the woman cannot have a relationship with any other man nor can she marry. Getting married without completing the period of Iddat is also considered illegal.
That's why this rule was brought
For your information, let us tell you that this is a social rule, which is not mandatory. Its purpose is to give the husband and wife a chance to restart their relationship. Both can reconcile during the period of 30 days. The period of Iddat is also followed to ensure that the woman is not pregnant. This is known during this period and until the woman gives birth to a child, she cannot marry again. At the same time, such a woman has to complete the period of Iddat after the birth of the child.
