Ducati Desmo 450 EDX Launched in India at ₹18.55 Lakh! Check Engine, Features and MX Factory Price

Ducati has expanded its off-road motorcycle lineup in India with the launch of the new Desmo 450 EDX. Designed for riders who enjoy challenging trails, cross-country adventures and demanding off-road conditions, the motorcycle has arrived in India with an ex-showroom price of ₹18.55 lakh.

Interestingly, the launch comes less than a month after the motorcycle's global debut. Alongside the EDX, Ducati has also introduced the Desmo 450 MX Factory, priced at ₹21.26 lakh. Meanwhile, the 2026 Desmo 450 MX continues to be available at ₹17.24 lakh. The standard 2027 Desmo 450 MX has not yet been introduced in the Indian market.

Ducati Desmo 450 EDX: Design and Off-Road Capabilities

The Ducati Desmo 450 EDX has been developed specifically for Enduro and cross-country riding. Unlike the MX Factory, which focuses more on competitive motocross, the EDX gets several modifications to make long-distance off-road riding more comfortable and manageable.

One of its key highlights is the larger 8.5-litre fuel tank, compared to the 7.2-litre tank on the MX Factory. This provides additional fuel capacity for longer off-road adventures.

The motorcycle gets Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tyres, designed to deliver grip and stability on different trail surfaces. Its chassis and Showa suspension have also been specially tuned to absorb impacts and improve control over rough terrain.

Despite receiving these off-road-focused modifications, the motorcycle maintains a lightweight construction, weighing just 107.1 kg without fuel.

Engine and Technology: What Powers the Ducati Desmo 450 EDX?

The Ducati Desmo 450 EDX is powered by a 449.6cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.

A major highlight of this engine is Ducati's Desmodromic valve system. Unlike conventional engines that use valve springs, this technology uses a mechanical system to control both the opening and closing of the valves.

Another interesting feature is its torque delivery. The engine produces approximately 70% of its maximum torque at just 4,200 rpm, helping riders maintain better control while navigating challenging terrain and sharp corners.

The motorcycle also comes equipped with several electronic riding aids, including:

  • Traction Control

  • Launch Control

  • Engine Brake Control

  • Bi-directional Quickshifter

  • Multiple Power Modes

  • Multiple Riding Modes

These features are designed to improve control, performance and riding confidence across different off-road conditions.

Ducati Desmo 450 MX Factory: What Makes It Special?

Alongside the EDX, Ducati has introduced the Desmo 450 MX Factory at ₹21.26 lakh. This motorcycle is designed primarily for competitive motocross and performance-focused riding.

Weighing just 104 kg without fuel, the MX Factory features several premium racing components that distinguish it from the standard model.

Some of its major highlights include a Titanium Akrapovic exhaust, specialised engine mapping, billet triple clamps and a Holeshot Device.

It also gets a larger 51-tooth rear sprocket instead of the standard 49-tooth setup. This configuration helps improve torque delivery to the rear wheel, particularly when accelerating out of corners.

The suspension setup includes a 49mm adjustable Showa inverted front fork with 310mm of travel, while the rear monoshock offers 301mm of wheel travel. Both suspension units feature special coatings designed to reduce friction and improve performance.

For braking, the motorcycle gets 260mm front and 240mm rear Galfer disc brakes with Brembo calipers.

The MX Factory rides on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, fitted with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres.
