US federal government shutdown: The situation in the US is worsening due to the shutdown. The shutdown, which has been ongoing for the past three weeks, has forced air traffic controllers to work without pay. Due to poor financial conditions, approximately 750,000 employees are forced to work part-time in cabs, food delivery, and restaurants to make ends meet. Due to a severe staff shortage at ATC, these employees are forced to work 60-hour days.

Salary not received since October 1

It's worth noting that government employees haven't received salaries since October 1st due to funding cuts caused by the shutdown. According to Nick Daniels, president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), "We're being told we'll get our salaries at some point, but that won't reduce our expenses or pay off our debts. Getting money later won't cover the present."

Which sector is most affected by the shutdown?

The aviation sector is facing the greatest impact of the shutdown. With salaries frozen, thousands of controllers are forced to take on odd jobs to meet their daily needs. Employees are forced to take on part-time jobs after their regular shifts.

What is shut down and why does it happen?

Let us tell you that just as the financial year in India starts from April 1, in America it starts from October 1. This means that from this day the government prepares its economic budget and plans how much money it has to spend on which item. But if for some reason the new budget is not passed by this date, then the government work stops. In America this is called shutdown. This time in America, there is tension between the two major political parties, Democrats and Republicans, regarding the Obama Health Care Subsidy Program. Democrats want to increase the health care subsidy, whereas, Republicans feel that if the subsidy is increased, it will increase the extra burden on the government, which will lead to shortage of funds for other works.
