That day was 14th April 2008, when a whole happy family was murdered. The incident took place in Bawankhedi of Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh, where the bodies of Shaukat's family were thrown on the night of 14/15th April. During this time, 7 members of the family were brutally murdered. According to the report, all were murdered by slitting their throats with an axe. This incident created a stir in the entire country including UP. At that time, the Chief Minister of UP was Mayawati, who had gone to meet the surviving girl of this family. Today it has been 17 years since this incident, during this time we will tell you that two people were behind the destruction of the entire family in one go.

7 people died in Amroha

At that time, the Bawankhedi incident was discussed all over the country, when people heard that someone had killed 7 people at night, there was panic everywhere. Actually Shaukat was a lecturer in a college, he had a full family, who was living a comfortable life. Suddenly, on the night of 14/15 April, the whole family perishes, and it is not known who did this. During this time, only one girl of the family survives, whom the then Chief Minister Mayawati also goes to meet.

Who is among the dead?

When the murder took place, Shaukat's family had gone to sleep after dinner and never woke up again. At that time there were a total of 8 people in the family, of which only one daughter survived. The deceased include Shaukat, his wife, his two sons, a daughter-in-law, a niece and a child. The only survivor in the family was his daughter Shabnam. According to information, people from the vicinity reached her house after hearing her screams.

What was the atmosphere of the area at that time?

15th April was a normal day, everyone was busy with their work. The children had gone to school, when the news came that some people had killed 7 members of the same family in Bawankhedi. Amroha resident Anshu Singh (who is a teacher) says that when her school got the news, all the children were sent home. These murders had a deep impact on everyone. In this episode, Sharia, who was a student at that time, tells that she was studying in class 10 at that time. She was in school at that time when she was told that there would be no classes today because some robbers had committed a big crime.

In fact, until the reason for the murder was known, various rumors were spreading in the entire area. Some people were saying that thieves came and killed everyone. It is said that the one who survived, Shabnam, was also a child who had hidden in a drum to escape the thieves. However, all these things were just speculations, because the truth was so terrible that no one could even imagine it.

Who committed the murder?

The then Chief Minister Mayawati also came to meet the surviving girl Shabnam. Shabnam told everyone that she was sleeping on the roof that night, thieves came and killed the whole family and went away. Everyone believed this, but as soon as the post-mortem report of the bodies came, the whole matter also came to light. The report revealed that all of them were given drugs before dying. Then everyone got suspicious that why Shabnam alone was not given drugs? The police investigates this, in which the needle of suspicion turns towards a person named Salim.

The second name that came up

During investigation it was found that Shaukat's family was also connected to a person named Salim. Suspecting this, the police picked him up for questioning. At first he did not say anything, but later he revealed everything. Salim told that the murder was planned by none other than Shabnam. Actually, both of them loved each other, due to which both of them together planned to eliminate the family. According to the information, Shaukat did not talk to his daughter Shabnam because of their relationship.

Salim is a labourer, Shabnam is a teacher

Shabnam's family was financially well off. Shabnam herself was a teacher in the village school. They both did not get along, due to which the family did not approve of their relationship. Salim says that he did not want to kill anyone, but he did all this in connivance with Shabnam. Before the murder, Shabnam had given intoxicants to the family members in milk, after which she asked Salim to come home. Salim had told that during this time Shabnam's head was completely soaked in blood.

Cut everybody's neck

When everyone fell asleep after getting drunk, Shabnam beheaded everyone with the help of Salim. During this time she held everyone's hair so that Salim could easily behead them with an axe. After killing 6 people, Shabnam's nephew (who was only 11 months old) survives, whom Salim leaves. Salim said that he cannot kill that child. Shabnam had killed that child by strangulating him.

Baby born in prison

After the whole truth came out, both were sent to jail. The court sentenced both of them to death, but the story does not end here, but a new chapter begins here. Actually, before the hanging, Shabnam was given a medical checkup, in which it was found that she was pregnant. Now, until Shabnam gives birth to a child and her child turns 5 years old, her hanging will be stayed. After staying in jail for a few months, Shabnam gave birth to Salim's child, who was named Taj Mohammad. However, a few years later, Taj was adopted by a family. Shabnam is still in Bareilly jail.

No one used to talk about Shabnam

Kitna Abe was also published on this entire incident, which was widely bought in the entire area. Recalling this, Rehana, a resident of Amroha, says that 'I still remember that no one in my family used to talk about this. Whenever Shabnam was mentioned, my mother would scold and silence them. She further says that 'during that time all the families were afraid that this might have some kind of bad effect on their daughters.'
