Bhubaneswar: After the incidents in Odisha's Balasore and Puri, a 19-year-old engineering student has been raped in a hotel in the capital Bhubaneswar. In this incident, the police have arrested Udit Pradhan, the head of Congress' student wing NSUI. In her complaint to the police, the student has accused Pradhan of raping her in the hotel. According to the police, this rape incident took place in March. The arrest of the Congress leader in the rape case has come at a time when the party is attacking the Mohan Majhi government over the incidents of burning a girl alive in Balasore and Puri. She has alleged that Pradhan sexually abused her in a hotel room in March by giving her intoxicants. The student has said in her complaint that on March 18, she met two of her friends at Master Canteen Chowk in Bhubaneswar. They were talking in a car, when another man joined them. He introduced himself as Udit Pradhan and also told her that he is the president of the Odisha branch of NSUI. He sat next to me and touched me inappropriately.

When I regained consciousness, Pradhan was lying next to me.

The victim said that then they took me to a hotel, stayed in a room and started drinking alcohol. I don't drink alcohol, so I refused. Udit Pradhan gave me a glass of cold drink. When I drank it, I started feeling dizzy and I asked him to drop me home. Then I fainted. The victim said in her complaint. When I regained consciousness, I found Udit Pradhan lying next to me. I felt pain and realized that something was wrong with me. Congress is yet to react to Udit Pradhan's arrest.
