All central government employees are awaiting the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Before the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission, the Modi government has taken a major decision, bringing significant relief to central government employees. Prior to the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission, the Modi government has made an important announcement, making significant changes to the rules related to government health services for government employees. This decision by the Modi government has created an atmosphere of joy among central government employees.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has now decided to relax the 5-kilometer requirement for Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries. This means that central government employees will now be able to apply for Central Government Health Scheme benefits even if they live within the specified distance of a Central Government Health Scheme wellness center.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released official information regarding this. All facilities have been implemented with immediate effect. Previously, only central government employees living or working within a 5-kilometer radius could avail of the CGHS Wellness Center, which caused significant inconvenience to many. Many employees were posted in locations where CGHS services were not available. The government has now removed this requirement. Beneficiaries of the CGHS scheme can now avail of it from anywhere.

This important decision by the Health Ministry will benefit central government employees who are not covered by the CGHS and receive health care benefits under the Central Services Rules, 1944, or the CS(MA) Rules. Such employees will be given the option to join the CGHS.

To become a CGHS beneficiary, employees must meet certain conditions and pay a specified amount. If employees meet all the requirements, they will receive all CGHS health benefits. The government has clarified that employees will only be given the option to choose CGHS once, and if they choose this option, they will remain eligible for the scheme until retirement.
