A young man in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh has alleged that his wife and in-laws are trying to forcefully convert him to Islam. The young man says that his 4-month-old son is also being pressured to convert. He has appealed to the police administration and the Yogi government for help.
How did the matter start?
Rajkumar (24 years), a resident of Meera Sarai in Badaun, is a confectioner by profession. He met Afroz (23 years) of Shekhupur and both of them fell in love. Afroz's family arranged their marriage on stamp paper, but Rajkumar's family was not informed about it.
Attempts at forced conversion
Rajkumar alleges that after marriage, he was forcibly taken to the mosque and made to read namaaz, fed meat and forced to convert to Islam. When he protested, he was divorced. Later, both of them reconciled and started living together according to Hindu customs.
Accused of feeding meat to son on Eid day
Afroz had gone to her maternal home on the occasion of Eid. When the prince reached Afroz's house, he saw that his son was being fed meat. When he protested against this, the Maulana and relatives forced him to become a Muslim again. Somehow he escaped from there with his son.
Asked for help from police
Rajkumar has demanded protection for himself and his son from SSP Badaun. Police has assured action.
"I will not become a Muslim under any circumstances"
The prince has clearly said that he will not accept forced conversion, will neither eat meat, nor pray namaaz nor get circumcised. He fears that his son may also be forcibly converted to Islam. He has appealed for justice.
