This tool, launched by UIDAI, will allow banks, fintech companies, and other financial sector entities to perform face authentication for customers directly from their servers. This will simplify and streamline the verification process. The Aadhaar Face Authentication Software Development Kit (SDK) and Sandbox were launched at the Global Fintech Fest 2026.

This will enable ecosystem partners, i.e. banks, fintech companies and other financial sector players, to easily integrate, test and deploy Aadhaar face authentication in their digital applications.

What are the features of UIDAI's new tool?
The Aadhaar Face Authentication SDK brings UIDAI's face authentication capabilities directly into native Android and iOS apps. This makes the process much easier, simpler, and a single-app authentication experience, without requiring users to switch between different apps. According to PIB, this ready-to-use SDK simplifies integration for ecosystem partners and also features AI/ML-based liveness and anti-spoofing capabilities, making the process easier for you.

The system securely handles authentication data and supports encryption. It is specifically designed to work on all types of smartphones. The SDK is expected to help government departments, banks, fintech companies, and other organizations more effectively implement services that require face authentication.

Sandbox also launched
Along with the SDK, UIDAI also launched the Aadhaar Face Authentication Sandbox. This is a secure and controlled system that allows organizations to integrate, verify, and validate the entire face authentication process before deploying it in real-time.

This sandbox allows developers and quality assurance teams to test critical layers of user provisioning and consent, face capture, liveness checks, authentication, error handling, and response validation, without the need for external biometric hardware. It also allows testing for failure scenarios such as invalid digital signatures, network disruptions, timeouts, and spoofing attempts.
