T20 World Cup Controversy: A day after the International Cricket Council rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) demand to shift the 2026 T20 World Cup out of India, Pakistani media reports have claimed that if Bangladesh does not play in the tournament, Pakistan will also boycott it.
If Bangladesh does not participate in the T20 World Cup, Pakistan will also withdraw from the tournament. Pakistan has threatened a boycott, although earlier reports suggested that the boycott threat circulating in Pakistan's name is a hoax. According to Geo News, if Bangladesh remains firm and decides not to participate, Pakistan may boycott the tournament.
Two separate reports in the Pakistani media
have been circulating conflicting reports on the matter. Previously, Telecom Asia, citing sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), claimed that withdrawing from the tournament was out of the question. The media then reported:
Pakistan supported Bangladesh's stance on principle, as their matches were moved from Pakistan to Dubai at India's request, but the same reason given by Bangladesh was not accepted, which is disappointing. Pakistan is considering various options, but withdrawing from the event was never an option or considered.

ICC sets today's deadline
The International Cricket Board's full members voted against Bangladesh in the meeting held on January 21. They have clearly refused to make any changes in the schedule of the tournament to be jointly organized by India and Sri Lanka from February 7. According to news agency PTI, 14 out of 16 members voted against the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Bangladesh was supposed to confirm its participation by January 21, but the ICC Board has given them one more day to present their case.
