All India Jan Sangh Secures Election Symbol After Delhi High Court Order Ahead of Bihar Polls

In a major development ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the All India Jan Sangh (ABJS) has received significant relief from the Delhi High Court, which directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to allot the party an election symbol to contest the upcoming polls.

The decision came after the Jan Sangh approached the court, citing the Election Commission’s inaction on its earlier request. The party had applied for the “bow” symbol in August 2025, but after receiving no response, it filed a petition seeking judicial intervention.

Justice Mini Pushkarna, while hearing the matter, observed that the party’s right to contest elections is protected under constitutional and statutory provisions. The court ordered that the Election Commission “immediately allot a similar symbol” to enable the Jan Sangh to participate in the Bihar elections.

In its petition, the party stated that the All India Jana Sangh, established in 1951, changed its name in 1979 and has been regularly contesting elections since its inception. It also pointed out that it was allotted the “star” symbol during the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, and thus, its request for a symbol in Bihar was in line with precedent and legal entitlements.

The Jan Sangh first reached out to the Election Commission on June 2, 2025, but after nearly three months without a reply, it sought relief through the judiciary.

The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in two phases, with results to be announced on November 14, 2025. The High Court’s ruling provides a crucial boost to the Jan Sangh’s preparations as it gears up for the electoral battle.
