The much-awaited sequel to Awarapan is finally official. Emraan Hashmi will return with Awarapan 2, and the makers have now locked its theatrical release for August 14, 2026, setting up a major box office clash.

The film is backed by Vishesh Films and will feature Disha Patani alongside Emraan Hashmi. The announcement was made through a teaser reveal that hinted at the actress’s intense look, building curiosity around her role in the sequel.

The original film, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, was released in 2007 and gained a strong following over the years. Now, nearly two decades later, its sequel aims to recreate that impact with a fresh storyline and scale.

However, the bigger talking point is its direct clash with Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Lahore 1947, which is scheduled to release on August 13, 2026. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Lahore 1947 is a historical action drama featuring names like Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol.

With just a one-day gap between the two releases, audiences can expect a high-voltage box office battle. On one side is a sequel to a cult favorite, and on the other, a large-scale historical drama. Whether either film shifts its release date or both go head-to-head remains to be seen, but for now, Independence Day weekend 2026 looks packed for cinema lovers.
