The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), long recognised as the wealthiest cricket board globally, reported total revenue of ₹9,741.7 crore for the financial year 2023–24. A significant portion of this windfall—₹5,761 crore, or 59 percent—was generated by the Indian Premier League (IPL), underscoring the tournament’s central role in the board’s finances during Jay Shah’s term as secretary.
Breakdown of Revenues for 2023–24
• IPL revenues: ₹5,761 crore (59% of total)
• Non‑IPL media rights (including international broadcast): ₹361 crore
• Interest income: ₹987 crore
• ICC distributions: ₹1,042 crore
• Revenues from men’s team tours: ₹361 crore
• Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023–24 season: ₹378 crore

In addition to the IPL’s dominant share, the BCCI benefits from domestic competitions such as the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and CK Nayudu Trophy, as well as a healthy interest income and ICC payouts. The board’s cash reserves now stand at approximately ₹30,000 crore, reflecting sustained growth under its current administration.
