Bigg Boss 20 has kicked off with a fresh lineup of 16 contestants, and among the names attracting attention is actor Asif Khan. The actor, known for his work in Panchayat, has come a long way in the entertainment industry after facing several challenges during his early years.

Before becoming a familiar face on screen, Asif worked various jobs to support himself. One of the most interesting chapters of his struggle came when he was working in the hospitality industry and reportedly found himself serving guests at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's wedding reception in 2012.

Asif's journey into acting was far from easy. According to a report based on his earlier interview, he took up different jobs while trying to make ends meet. After moving to Mumbai, he worked at a mall and later joined the kitchen department of a hotel.

The couple got married in October 2012 in a private ceremony and later hosted a grand reception attended by several Bollywood personalities.

According to Asif's account, he was excited when he discovered that the event he was working at was Saif and Kareena's reception. He reportedly asked his manager if he could meet the newly married stars.

However, his request was not approved, meaning he had to continue working instead of getting the opportunity to meet the celebrity couple.

Reports also say that Asif ended up helping with kitchen duties, including washing dishes. Rather than letting the experience discourage him, he continued working and remained focused on his larger dream of becoming an actor.

A casting opportunity changed his perspective

The reception turned out to be significant for another reason. According to the account, Asif came across someone associated with a casting agency during the event and later went for an appointment.

He was reportedly told that he needed to work on his appearance and acting skills before pursuing a career in Bollywood. Instead of taking the criticism negatively, Asif asked what he needed to do to improve his chances of becoming an actor.

He subsequently returned to Rajasthan and joined theatre, where he spent years developing his acting skills. After around six years of theatre work, he returned to Mumbai to pursue acting professionally.

Asif eventually began appearing in films and web series, but his role as Ganesh in the popular series Panchayat brought him widespread recognition.

His comic timing and memorable dialogue made the character popular with viewers and helped establish Asif as a recognizable actor.

Asif's journey has now taken him to another major platform. He entered the Bigg Boss 20 house as one of the 16 contestants when the season premiered on September 6, 2026.
