Rambabu Singh: Rambabu Singh's body was brought to Patna airport on Wednesday morning, where he was paid floral tribute. However, he was not given a 'Guard of Honor'.
Rambabu Singh: The Bihar government on Wednesday (May 14, 2025) clarified that Siwan resident Rambabu Singh, who was killed in the line of duty in Jammu and Kashmir, was not a BSF but an Army jawan and his death will not be considered as 'martyrdom in conflict'. Earlier, the Chief Minister's Office had described Rambabu Singh as a "BSF jawan" and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to his family.
Singh, who was seriously injured, died last week and was declared a 'martyr'. "We received a letter from the army last night stating that Ram Babu Singh was in the army. Also, his death cannot be termed as 'martyrdom in conflict' as he died in a road accident," a senior officer said on condition of anonymity.
Guard of honor was not given at the airport
Ram Babu Singh's body was brought to Patna airport on Wednesday morning, where floral tributes were paid to him. However, he was not given the 'guard of honour' which is usually given to "martyrs". Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav was present at the airport.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, while talking to reporters, said, "Yesterday Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said in a post on 'X' that Ram Babu Singh was a BSF jawan. Now it has come to light that he was in the army. Such confusion at the level of the Chief Minister is regrettable. It is hoped that the Chief Minister will fulfill his promise of giving an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the family of Ram Babu Singh. He (Rambabu) was young and got married only a few months ago."
At the airport, he said, "Nobody informed me about the body of Ram Babu Singh being brought. I came on my own. It is disappointing that representatives of the government, which has two deputy chief ministers and a large cabinet, were missing. I also spoke to Ram Babu Singh's family over the phone to express my condolences." Let us tell you that Ram Babu Singh's last rites were performed with state honors in Vasilpur village of Siwan on Wednesday.
