Chief Minister Women Entrepreneurship Campaign: Assam govt will provide assistance of ₹10,000 to 40 lakh women, know how to avail benefits

Many excellent efforts are being made in various states across India to empower women with self-reliance. The Assam government has taken a truly inspiring step in this regard. Through the "Chief Minister's Women Entrepreneurship Campaign," the state government has undertaken to transform the rural economy. The primary objective of this scheme is to empower women, not limit them to their homes, but to empower them to become successful businesswomen and entrepreneurs.

What is Chief Minister Women Entrepreneurship Campaign?

Under this unique initiative in Assam, women in the state are being provided initial financial assistance of ₹10,000 to start their own small businesses. Modeled after Bihar, this scheme focuses specifically on rural areas, where talent is abundant, but lack of capital often stymies dreams. This money is transferred directly to the beneficiary women's bank accounts, eliminating the need for middlemen and maintaining complete transparency.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, this campaign has set a lofty goal. While the plan was initially to benefit 3.2 million women, given its success, this figure has now been increased to 4 million. According to government data, approximately 800,000 women have achieved the distinction of becoming "lakhpatis" through this program.

Financial assistance is provided in stages

The biggest strength of this scheme is that it doesn't just hand over the money, but rather, it supports women entrepreneurs by holding their hands. The process is divided into three main stages:

Stage 1:

₹10,000 is provided as seed capital to start a business.
Stage 2 : If a woman successfully runs her small business, she is provided with a low-interest loan of up to ₹25,000.
Stage 3: Businesses that show good growth and potential for expansion are provided additional government support of up to ₹50,000.

Who can avail the benefits of this scheme?

This scheme is primarily for women who are members of a recognized self-help group (SHG). To apply, women need to contact their local self-help group at the panchayat or block level.

 Required Documents:

  • Aadhar card
  • Bank account information
  • Address proof
  • Proof of membership of Self Help Group

 Impact on the rural economy

The Assam government aims to create 4 million "Lakhpati Didis" in the state. When a woman becomes financially independent, it impacts not only her bank balance but also her entire family's food, children's education, and health. This scheme is not only empowering women to be self-reliant but also creating new employment opportunities at the rural level.

This initiative is proof that with the right guidance and a little financial support, women in our country can achieve great things in any field.
