Difficulties will increase if toll is due! No NOC will be given for car insurance and registration; Government is bringing new rule

The Ministry of Road Transport has proposed that vehicle owners will not be able to avail services like registration, insurance renewal, transfer of ownership of the car and fitness certificate if they have toll dues on the National Highway. In case of not having FASTag or being blacklisted, services will be stopped considering the toll due.

Toll Dues: The government is soon going to implement a new rule under which if a vehicle has toll dues on the National Highway, it will not be allowed to get registration, insurance renewal, change in ownership or fitness certificate. The Ministry of Road Transport has issued a draft notification of changes in the Motor Vehicle Rules for this. This step has been taken to promote digital toll collection and prevent toll evaders.

Vehicle services will not be available if toll dues are due

If the toll of a vehicle remains outstanding, the vehicle owner will not be able to pay the registration tax nor complete the process of change of ownership. This information will be recorded on the vehicle number and all related services will be stopped until the outstanding toll is paid.

Toll will be considered as due even if blacklisted

According to the Times of India report, as per the new rules, if a vehicle crosses the toll plaza but does not have a valid Fastag or the Fastag is blacklisted, then also the toll dues will be visible on it. This information will be recorded in the automatic system and the vehicle owner will have to pay the toll first.

Outstanding toll will be collected through VAHAN system

NHAI had demanded from the Transport Ministry that the Vahan system be connected in such a way that the outstanding toll can be recovered from vehicles without Fastag or with faulty Fastag. Now this proposal is being implemented so that no vehicle can run on the road without paying the toll.

Why the new rule is necessary

Now multilane free flow tolling system is being implemented on national highways across the country, in which there will be no need to stop at the toll plaza. In such a situation, the toll of every vehicle must be collected digitally, so that no one can pass without paying the toll. It will be necessary for vehicle owners to keep their Fastag valid and pay all toll dues in time, otherwise it will be difficult to renew the necessary documents.
