Don't want anyone to read your private WhatsApp chats? Just set this simple setting.

We don't just have casual conversations on WhatsApp, but sometimes we also have private conversations we don't want others to read. If your phone falls into someone else's hands at home or someone tries to open your WhatsApp chats, the Chat Lock feature can be very useful.

WhatsApp's Chat Lock isolates a specific chat from the general chat list and places it in a secure folder. Messages from locked chats are also not visible in notifications as normal.

How to lock a WhatsApp chat?
First, open WhatsApp and go to the chat you want to lock. Now, tap the contact or group name that appears above. Here, you'll find the option to lock the chat.

Now turn on Chat Lock and verify your identity using your phone's fingerprint, Face Unlock, or Screen Lock. The chat will then be locked.

Once locked, this conversation won't be easily visible in your normal chat list. To view it, you'll need to open the Locked Chats section in WhatsApp and unlock it using your device's security process.

Locked chats will also receive notifications.
The most useful aspect of Private Chat Lock is notifications. The full content of messages from locked chats isn't displayed in notifications. This reduces the chance that people nearby will discover your private messages.
