The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the temporary suspension of its online member and employer services by one more day. As a result, key digital facilities such as online claim submission, passbook downloads, and other account-related services remain unavailable for users.
According to an official update on the EPFO portal, services will remain suspended until 11:59 PM on July 1, 2026, and are expected to resume from 12:00 AM on July 2, 2026.
Reason for Service Disruption
EPFO has temporarily shut down its online systems due to a major backend upgrade involving database consolidation and improvements in its claims processing infrastructure. The migration process began on June 26 and is aimed at modernizing the platform to improve speed, reliability, and security.
The organization stated that the upgrade is intended to strengthen its digital systems and enhance overall service efficiency for both members and employers.
Services Affected During Maintenance
During this maintenance window, users will not be able to access EPFO’s online portal for the following services:
- Online claim submission
- Passbook download
- Claim status tracking
- Transfer requests
- Profile and personal detail updates
Both the member and employer interfaces remain inaccessible during this period.
Purpose of the Upgrade
EPFO says the system overhaul is part of a broader effort to modernize its digital infrastructure. Once completed, the upgraded platform is expected to offer faster processing, improved reliability, and stronger data security.
The organization has also apologized for the temporary inconvenience, stating that the upgrade is necessary for long-term service improvements.
When Services Will Resume
All online EPFO services are scheduled to restart from midnight on July 2, 2026, after the completion of the migration process.
