Holiday List 2026: Three local holidays have been declared in Kabirdham district for the year 2026. Government offices will be closed on Shravan Monday, Maha Ashtami, and Bhai Dooj. A total of 107 holidays have been declared for the entire year.
If you've been waiting for holidays from school, college, or government offices, the year 2026 may bring you relief. The administration in Chhattisgarh's Kabirdham district has declared local holidays for three important festivals for the year 2026. District Collector Gopal Verma, exercising his authority, approved these dates as local holidays. This will provide government employees, students, and the general public with additional holidays during the festivals.
There will be local holidays on these three festivals
According to the order issued by the district administration, there will be local holidays in the district on the occasion of three major festivals in the year 2026.
- August 3, 2026 – First Monday of Shravan month
- October 19, 2026 – Maha Ashtami of Dussehra
- November 11, 2026 – Bhai Dooj
All government offices in the district will be closed on these days. However, the administration has clarified that the treasury and sub-treasury offices will remain open as usual on these days.
Why was it declared a local holiday?
The district administration states that all these festivals are extremely important from a religious and social perspective in Kabirdham district. The first Monday of the month of Shravan is considered special for the worship of Lord Shiva. On this day, large numbers of devotees visit Shiva temples in the district to offer prayers. Similarly, Maha Ashtami of Dussehra and Bhai Dooj, celebrated after Diwali, are also celebrated with traditional enthusiasm here. Therefore, to facilitate people's celebrations, a local holiday has been declared.
Essential services will continue, a total of 107 holidays in 2026
However, the administration has ensured that essential government work is not affected. Therefore, treasury and sub-treasury offices have been exempted from these holidays, so that financial transactions and essential administrative work can continue.
The Chhattisgarh government has already released a list of public and optional holidays for the year 2026, which has been published in the gazette. According to the government order, there will be a total of 107 holidays in 2026. These include several national, religious, and cultural festivals.
These include:
- 18 public holidays
- 28 General Holidays (Except Saturday and Sunday)
- 61 optional holidays
This means that government employees and teachers are going to get a lot of holidays throughout the year.
