Good news has arrived for the poor ahead of Diwali, the festival of lights. These people will receive six free LPG cylinders per year. The government has approved this scheme. However, only the people of Jammu and Kashmir will benefit from this scheme.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved a scheme to provide six free LPG cylinders per year to ordinary households under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) to ease the burden of domestic gas prices just ahead of the festive season, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Satish Sharma told the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

This state government scheme will only benefit families eligible under AAY. Under this scheme, the cost of six LPG refills is proposed to be deposited directly into the beneficiary's bank account. This will provide relief to the poor in the state.
