High blood pressure is a problem that slowly damages the body from within. In this condition, there is more pressure on the heart and the blood vessels start weakening. When blood flow is not proper, the risk of heart attack and stroke increases. Therefore, it is important to control high blood pressure in time. Along with medicines, proper diet also plays an important role in keeping the blood pressure balanced. Recently, holistic nutrition experts have told that there are some natural foods which can prove to be very effective in reducing high blood pressure.
What to eat to control high blood pressure?
1.Beetroot
Beetroot is considered a natural superfood for high blood pressure. It is rich in nitrates, which are converted into nitric oxide in the body. This compound helps dilate blood vessels, improving blood flow and gradually lowering blood pressure.
How to consume: Beetroot can be eaten raw or juiced. Consuming 1 to 2 cups of beetroot juice daily is considered beneficial. It can also be included in your diet as a salad, vegetable, soup, or smoothie.
2. Hibiscus tea
Hibiscus tea helps lower blood pressure naturally. It is considered effective in balancing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Hibiscus tea relaxes blood vessels and helps flush out excess fluid from the body. It is especially effective in the early stages of high blood pressure. However, if someone is already taking blood pressure medication, it is important to consult a doctor before drinking it.
How to drink: Hibiscus tea can be made by boiling dried hibiscus petals in water or using hibiscus tea bags. Drink 2 to 3 cups of hibiscus tea daily.
3.Flax seeds
Flax seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants. These elements help improve heart health and regulate blood pressure. Flax seeds reduce inflammation in blood vessels and improve blood flow. Furthermore, the fiber content improves metabolism and helps maintain blood sugar levels.
How to eat: Flax seeds can be eaten after lightly roasting them. About 25 to 30 grams of flax seeds per day is sufficient. They can also be eaten mixed into yogurt, oats, smoothies, salads, or cereals.
