High cholesterol: Does skipping dinner reduce fat in blood vessels? You'll be shocked by this doctor's answer

Many diseases follow us due to unhealthy lifestyles. A common problem these days due to unhealthy eating habits is increased bad cholesterol. When bad (LDL) cholesterol builds up in the blood vessels, it increases the risk of heart problems, heart attacks, and strokes. Some people skip dinner, fearing that it will lead to weight loss and control of cholesterol. But is this really beneficial?

Simply skipping dinner isn't enough to lower cholesterol.
Cholesterol is essential for  the body . However, if the levels of bad (LDL) and total cholesterol increase, it can lead to several health problems. According to doctors, cholesterol levels don't depend solely on whether you eat dinner or not.

What you eat during the day, how many calories you consume, your weight, and how much physical activity you engage in have a major impact. Therefore, if your daily diet isn't healthy, it may be a mistake to expect that simply skipping dinner will lower your cholesterol.

Is there any benefit to skipping dinner?

Giving information about this to a website, Dr. Tarun Kumar, Professor of Cardiology at Medanta Medicity Hospital, says that for some people, it may be beneficial to lighten or reduce the dinner to some extent.

According to them, if eating less at night reduces total calorie intake throughout the day and thus improves insulin resistance in the body, it may help reduce bad cholesterol over time. However, these benefits may not be felt by everyone.

Do not stop eating dinner without consulting your doctor.

Dr. Tarun said that many people stop eating dinner on their own. However, it's not a wise decision to make such a decision without consulting a doctor. Because skipping dinner despite being hungry at night can lead to overeating the next day. This can lead to weight gain and increased cholesterol.

Furthermore, skipping dinner regularly can lead to a deficiency in essential nutrients. Therefore, you shouldn't completely stop eating dinner unless your doctor specifically advises otherwise.

What can you do to keep cholesterol under control? According to Dr. Tarun Kumar, paying attention to your daily diet is crucial to lowering cholesterol. Include fruits, green leafy vegetables, protein, and vitamin-rich foods in your daily diet.

Avoid eating foods with high fat content.

Reduce ghee, butter and processed foods as much as possible.

Exercise regularly for at least 30 to 45 minutes five days a week.

Do not take any cholesterol-lowering medicine without consulting a doctor.
