ISKCON brahmacharis do not take salary, but live their life through service and devotion in the temple. All their needs are fulfilled with the help of the organization and devotees.
Chanting the name of God every morning, the sweet sound of kirtan in temples and brahmacharis engrossed in service is what life is like in the ashrams of ISKCON i.e. International Society for Krishna Consciousness. But a question often comes to people's mind whether ISKCON brahmacharis get salary or not? How do they manage their living?
ISKCON Brahmacharis are those people who have renounced worldly life and have chosen the path of devotion to Krishna. These Brahmacharis serve in temples like worship, sermons, distribution of prasad, kirtan, Gita classes, cow service, cleaning and imparting spiritual knowledge to people. But they do not get any salary in return. ISKCON Brahmacharis do not take any regular salary.
How are needs met?
All the basic needs of the brahmacharis are taken care of within the ISKCON organization like accommodation, food, clothing, and health facilities. Their food is arranged through donations from temples or devotees. Clothes and other essential items are also provided by the temple. Many times when the brahmacharis go on preaching tours or there is financial need during any service, the organization gives some allowance. But this is not a fixed salary, but a need-based support.
The temple bears the expenses
HG Amogha Leela Prabhu told in an interview that the temple takes care of medical expenses. When we go on any trip, we get that money from the temple. Not only this, laptops are also arranged by the temple, if you have to give a presentation somewhere, then the laptop is provided by the temple for that.
