A shocking case involving dowry harassment, sexual exploitation, and coercion has emerged from Kamla Nagar, Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Seven months after her marriage, a woman’s father filed a complaint against the son-in-law and other in-laws. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
According to the victim’s father, the daughter was married in November 2024. The wedding expenses were around Rs 1.5 crore, including gold jewelry, Rs 40 lakh in cash, a car, and household furniture. Soon after, the in-laws demanded an additional dowry of Rs 2 crore. When this was not met, the woman began suffering physical and mental abuse.
The victim alleges that her husband beat her with a stick and subjected her to unnatural acts. He also installed a hidden camera in the bedroom, secretly recording explicit videos of her, which he used to blackmail her by threatening to make them public. When she reported these threats to her mother-in-law and father-in-law, they too began intimidating her.
The situation worsened when the victim said her husband took her to a house where a young man was waiting and forced her into a relationship with him, with the young man also threatening her. After managing to escape and return home, her father-in-law sexually assaulted her. Upon complaining to her husband about this, he tried to strangle her.
The next day, the victim fled to her parental home and revealed her ordeal to her family. ACP Chhatta, Piyush Kant Rai, confirmed that a case has been registered and the investigation is underway.
