Ahead of the crucial fourth Test between India and England at Old Trafford, Manchester, starting July 23, Team India has received a significant boost. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been declared fully available for selection, ending speculation about his fitness and participation.
Bumrah Cleared for Manchester Test
According to a report by RevSportz, Bumrah will be part of the playing squad for the Manchester Test — a match India must win to stay alive in the five-match series, currently led 2-1 by England.
Bumrah was earlier expected to play only three Tests in the series, and having already featured in the first and third matches, his inclusion in Manchester confirms the team’s intent to go all-in for a comeback.
Bumrah’s Performance So Far
-
1st Test:
5 wickets in the first innings
0 wickets in the second innings -
3rd Test at Lord's:
5 wickets in the first innings
2 wickets in the second innings
In just two matches, Bumrah has picked up 12 wickets at an impressive average of 21.00. Only Mohammad Siraj has more wickets (13) in the series so far, having played one more Test.
Strong Record in England
Bumrah has been India’s go-to pacer in overseas conditions, especially in England. Across 11 Tests in England, he has claimed 49 wickets at an average of 24.97, including four five-wicket hauls. While he hasn’t played a Test at Old Trafford before, his adaptability and effectiveness in English conditions make him a key asset in this do-or-die match.
What’s at Stake?
With the series tilted 2-1 in England’s favor, India must win the Manchester Test to force a decider at The Oval. Bumrah’s presence provides both experience and firepower to the Indian bowling attack — especially crucial on surfaces that tend to support seam and swing early on.
