Bumrah was referring to the batsman's height, which would cause the ball to miss the stumps. This was the reason why the Indian players decided not to take DRS for LBW again. However, Bavuma failed to make a significant impact after this, falling prey to Kuldeep Yadav's mystery bowling after scoring just three runs. Kuldeep Yadav had Bavuma caught by Dhruv Jurel, sending him back to the pavilion. Bavuma managed only three runs.

In the Test match, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. By lunch, South Africa were down three wickets for 105 runs. Bumrah took two wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav took one. At the time of writing, Bumrah had dismissed Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram.
