Bajaj Auto has officially confirmed the launch date of the updated Bajaj Chetak electric scooter. The new and more affordable Chetak model will be unveiled on January 14, 2026, and is expected to strengthen Bajaj’s position in the entry-level electric scooter segment.
While the upcoming Chetak will retain its existing battery options, it will receive subtle design updates and feature enhancements, along with a significantly lower starting price.
Design Updates in the 2026 Bajaj Chetak
One of the most noticeable changes in the 2026 Bajaj Chetak will be the redesigned rear section. The scooter will now feature a new horizontal LED tail lamp, replacing the current split-style unit. Other minor cosmetic tweaks are also expected.
Despite these changes, the Chetak’s iconic retro styling will remain intact. The scooter will look slightly more compact and will get:
-
A redesigned seat
-
Updated side panels
-
A new rear grab handle
-
Front indicators repositioned onto the handlebar cowl
-
A newly integrated rear tail-light design
Variants and Battery Options
The updated Bajaj Chetak is expected to continue with two battery pack options:
-
3 kWh battery with a claimed range of around 127 km
-
3.5 kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 153 km
These figures are similar to the current model, ensuring proven real-world usability.
At present, the Chetak range includes four variants — 3001, 3503, 3502, and 3501 — priced between ₹99,990 and ₹1.27 lakh (ex-showroom). The entry-level 3001 variant has a top speed of 63 kmph, while the higher variants can reach up to 73 kmph.
Features on Offer
Feature availability will continue to vary by variant. The top-end Chetak models offer:
-
Touchscreen TFT display
-
Smartphone connectivity
-
Sequential turn indicators
-
Front disc brake
Meanwhile, the base variant comes equipped with:
-
Basic LCD display
-
Hill hold assist
-
Reverse mode
-
Drum brakes
All variants offer multiple riding modes, including Eco and Sport, along with Bajaj’s optional TechPack.
Expected Price and Rivals
The biggest highlight of the upcoming Bajaj Chetak is its expected pricing. Early estimates suggest an ex-showroom price between ₹80,000 and ₹90,000, making it far more affordable than the current lineup.
If priced as expected, the new Chetak will directly rival entry-level electric scooters such as the Vida VX2 and TVS Orbiter, offering buyers a strong combination of retro design, reliability, and competitive pricing.
