In the last two months, NSA Ajit Doval, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar have visited China to accelerate the process of normalizing bilateral relations, PM Modi's visit to China can give it a concrete shape. After the meeting of Jaishankar and Wang Yi on Monday, separate statements issued by both the countries have underlined the importance of better bilateral relations.

Foreign Minister Jaishankar told Vice President Zheng and Foreign Minister Yi that India-China relations have improved a lot in the last nine months (after PM Modi and President Jinping's meeting in Kazan). He also said that peace and tranquility on the border between India and China is beneficial not only for these two countries but for the entire world.

While China has said that both countries should work on ambitious goals for the long term. China has also expressed its desire to work with India on the basis of the things decided in the meeting between Modi and Jinping.
