James Anderson Turns Back the Clock Before 43rd Birthday, Destroys Yorkshire with Fiery Spell in T20 Blast

As legendary England pacer James Anderson approaches his 43rd birthday on July 30, he delivered a stunning performance that proved age is just a number. Playing for Lancashire in the T20 Blast, Anderson showcased vintage form with a three-wicket haul that helped his team defeat Yorkshire by 21 runs.

Anderson’s Impactful Spell
Defending a target of 175, Anderson struck early, dismantling Yorkshire’s top order. He removed captain Dawid Malan and opener William Luxton in quick succession, giving Lancashire a strong start with the ball. Later, he dismissed Pakistan's Abdullah Shafique—Yorkshire's top scorer with 54 off 34 balls—to seal the win. Anderson finished with impressive figures of 3 for 25 in his 4 overs.

Support came from Chris Green, who also bagged three wickets, while Luke Wood contributed with two scalps. Yorkshire were eventually bowled out for 153 in 19.1 overs.

Buttler’s Brilliance with the Bat
Earlier, Lancashire posted 174 in 19.5 overs. Jos Buttler led the charge, smashing 77 runs off 46 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Phil Salt added 42 off 29, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered. For Yorkshire, Matt Milnes, Jordan Thompson, and Jafer Chohan took two wickets apiece.

Anderson’s standout spell, combined with Buttler’s power-packed knock, ensured Lancashire emerged victorious, with the veteran pacer once again proving his enduring value to the team.
