LPG Connection: A major change regarding gas connections! Will the number of LPG beneficiaries decrease if Aadhaar verification is not done?
Domestic LPG gas is widely used across the country. However, it is reported that the number of LPG connections is currently declining. This is not only due to limits imposed on new gas connections, but also due to processes such as Aadhaar verification and e-KYC.
LPG customers have been urged to complete Aadhaar verification and e-KYC for some time now. The main purpose behind this is to ensure subsidy benefits reach the right people, detect multiple connections in the same person's name, update old records, and remove fake connections.
Why are new connections not being received?
It is being reported that tensions in the Middle East have affected the supply of both LPG and petrol and diesel. Oil companies have reportedly imposed temporary limits on new domestic LPG connections due to increased pressure on the supply system. This could cause difficulties for customers purchasing new connections.
Additionally, oil companies are also investigating old LPG connections. They are investigating which connections are in use, which are out of service, whether there are multiple connections in the same family's name, or whether the household has a PNG connection.
The number of Ujjwala beneficiaries has also decreased.
It has also been revealed that this investigation has affected the number of beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme. The number of beneficiaries, which was previously 106.3 million, has now decreased to 105.7 million. This means that approximately 600,000 beneficiaries have been reduced.
E-KYC by September 30th?
It's being said that the deadline for completing the e-KYC process for LPG connections is September 30th. Failure to complete e-KYC may result in problems receiving LPG subsidies starting October 1st. The cylinder booking process is also likely to be disrupted. Therefore, it may be important for LPG consumers to check their connection's e-KYC and Aadhaar verification status.
