The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2025 is set to begin from November 27, as officially announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Friday, August 1. After five successful seasons filled with thrilling encounters and world-class performances, the excitement is already building for this year’s tournament. Matches to Be Played Across Three Iconic Venues

Sri Lanka Cricket has revealed that the matches of LPL 2025 will be played at three major stadiums across the country:

• R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

• Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele

• Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla

According to Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela, the presence of international stars will not only raise the level of competition but also offer valuable learning experiences for Sri Lanka's emerging local talent.

A Crucial Tournament Ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

Another exciting aspect of LPL 2025 is that it will act as a key preparation platform for the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. This gives players an important opportunity to gear up ahead of the global tournament.

The final match of LPL 2025 will take place on December 23, concluding nearly a month of non-stop T20 action.

Most Successful Franchise: Jaffna Kings

Out of the five LPL seasons played so far, Jaffna Kings have emerged as the most dominant franchise, lifting the trophy four times. They remain the team to beat in the tournament. The only other team to win the title is B-Love Kandy, who clinched the championship in 2023.

LPL 2024 Final Recap: Jaffna’s Dominance

In the 2024 LPL final, Jaffna Kings defeated Galle Marvels by 9 wickets in a one-sided contest. Galle had set a competitive total of 184/6 in 20 overs, but Rilee Rossouw delivered a spectacular unbeaten knock of 106 runs off just 53 balls, including 9 fours and 7 sixes, helping Jaffna chase down the target in just 16 overs.
