Madhya Pradesh: Man Rapes Sister-in-Law in Sleeper Bus, Victim Files FIR in Rewa

A shocking case of sexual assault has come to light from Maihar in Madhya Pradesh, where a 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her brother-in-law in a moving sleeper bus. The accused fled the scene after committing the crime, and police have now launched a manhunt to arrest him.

Incident Started With a Journey, Ended in Crime

According to the police, the victim had been in regular phone contact with her brother-in-law. On June 26, she reached Rewa around 1 PM, where the accused met her near Bada Pul. After having breakfast together, the two boarded a train to Hyderabad. However, due to mounting pressure from the families, they got off at Katni and decided to return to Rewa by sleeper bus later that evening.

Rape in the Moving Bus, Accused Threatened Victim

The assault occurred around 10:30 PM, when the bus neared Amarpatan. The victim alleged that her brother-in-law forced himself on her inside the bus. When she resisted, he threatened to leak a video of the incident. After the assault, he deboarded the bus and fled. The woman managed to reach Rewa on her own.

Health Worsened, Truth Revealed in Hospital

Due to her deteriorating condition, the woman was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa. On June 28, during her treatment, she revealed the entire incident to her elder sister. A complaint was subsequently lodged at Rewa City Kotwali on July 3, and the case was transferred to Maihar police station for jurisdictional reasons.

Police Launch Investigation

Rewa SP Sudhir Agarwal confirmed that the case is being taken seriously. A team has been assigned to track down the accused, and raids are being conducted in multiple locations. The police are also examining CCTV footage and phone records for further leads.
