The occasion was marked by a warm celebration in Parliament, where Priyanka Gandhi Vadra added a personal touch by baking a sugar-free date cake for the veteran leader.

Priyanka’s Thoughtful Gesture

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Priyanka Gandhi made the cake especially for Kharge, as he generally avoids sweets.

“Kharge ji avoids sweets. Today is his birthday, so Priyanka ji made a date cake without sugar for him. Taking care of elders with such gestures reflects our values of respect and love,” Shrinet wrote.

Celebrations in Parliament

The birthday was celebrated in the presence of several senior Congress leaders. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and many MPs joined the celebration. Kharge cut the handmade cake surrounded by applause and smiles. In a touching moment, Rahul Gandhi fed cake to Kharge, who then reciprocated the gesture with both Rahul and Priyanka.

Priyanka also honored Kharge with a shawl, while Rahul Gandhi presented him with a bouquet of flowers.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the Congress leader. He posted,

Born on 21 July 1942 in Varavathi village, Bidar district, Karnataka, Kharge has had a long-standing political career. He has served in various legislative and ministerial roles and has been the Congress President since 2022, playing a central role in shaping the party’s direction in recent years.
