Meta Launches New AI Smart Glasses: 3K Video, Longer Battery and New Muse AI Features

Smart glasses are quickly moving beyond simple cameras and speakers, and Meta has now taken another major step in that direction. At Meta Connect 2026, the company introduced a new generation of AI-powered glasses, including the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 and Ray-Ban Meta Audio.

The latest products combine cameras, microphones, speakers and artificial intelligence to turn glasses into a hands-free computing device. Meta has also introduced new AI capabilities designed to help users complete tasks using voice commands.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 gets a major camera upgrade

One of the biggest changes in the new Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is its camera system.

The glasses feature a 12MP camera capable of recording video in 3K Ultra HD resolution. This allows users to capture photos and videos from their own point of view without taking out a smartphone.

Meta has also equipped the glasses with a six-microphone array. The company says the new microphone system can reduce 's data.

The development highlights the growing importance of privacy controls as cameras and AI assistants become part of everyday wearable devices.

Meta also launches camera-free AI glasses

Alongside the new camera-equipped model, Meta introduced Ray-Ban Meta Audio.

Unlike the company's camera-equipped smart glasses, this product does not include a camera and instead focuses on audio and hands-free interaction.

The glasses weigh 43 grams and are claimed to offer up to 12 hours of use on a single charge, with up to 48 hours of additional usage through the charging case.

What will the new Meta glasses cost?

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 starts at $449 in the US.

Meta has confirmed that the new glasses will also launch in India, although Indian pricing has not yet been announced.

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio starts at $349 in the US and is scheduled to begin shipping on October 13. Meta has not announced an Indian launch for this model at present.

Are smart glasses becoming the next big AI device?

The latest launch shows how technology companies are increasingly trying to move AI beyond smartphones and computers.

Instead of opening an app and typing a command, users can interact with an AI assistant through glasses while keeping their hands free.

Meta says it plans to offer more than 100 glasses options across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses by the end of 2026.

If AI glasses continue to become lighter, more powerful and more useful, they could become an important part of the next generation of wearable technology.
