Minute’s Silence Observed in T20 Mumbai 2025 Final as Tribute to Ahmedabad Plane Crash Victims

The final of the T20 Mumbai 2025 tournament, played on June 12 at Wankhede Stadium between SoBo Mumbai Falcons (captained by Shreyas Iyer) and Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals (captained by Siddhesh Lad), began with a solemn tribute. Players of both teams wore black armbands and observed a minute’s silence before the match to honor the 241 lives lost in the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad earlier that day.

The Mumbai Cricket Association officially announced this tribute, expressing grief for the victims of the accident and conveying condolences to their families. A message was also displayed on the stadium’s big screen before the final started.

The cricket community, including Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and players like Rohit Sharma, expressed their sorrow over the tragedy on social media.

In the final, Mumbai Falcons posted 157/4 in 20 overs but fell short, losing by five wickets to Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals.
