Nargis Fakhri: The Actress with Pakistani Roots Who Finds Peace in Hanuman Chalisa

In the world of cinema, actors often step into diverse roles where religion and personal beliefs hold little relevance. Yet, in real life, film stars frequently face trolling and controversies over faith and relationships. Among them is Nargis Fakhri, a Bollywood actress who began her career at the age of 16 and later worked as a model in the United States before entering Indian cinema.

Now 45, Nargis was recently seen in an Akshay Kumar film and had earlier shared screen space with Salman Khan in Kick. Calling herself a “global citizen,” she attributes this identity to her parents’ diverse backgrounds—her mother hailing from the Czech Republic and her father being Pakistani. However, her childhood was not easy, as her parents divorced when she was six, and she lost her father soon after.

Nargis made her Bollywood debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar and won hearts with her performance. Since then, she has featured in more than 16 films, including Housefull 5, and also appeared in several music videos. Her work has earned her critical appreciation and awards along the way.

Interestingly, Nargis Fakhri has often spoken about her spiritual side. Despite her Muslim heritage, she says she is not strictly religious but deeply spiritual. She finds peace in listening to the Gayatri Mantra and turns to Hanuman Chalisa during stressful times. She has expressed her desire to learn about different religions and their philosophies.

On the personal front, Nargis was once in a relationship with actor Uday Chopra between 2013 and 2017. Though she described him as a good person, their bond ended due to professional commitments and hectic schedules. Recently, in February 2025, she tied the knot with Tony Beg in a private ceremony in Los Angeles, attended only by close friends and family members.
