Aadhaar is not just an identity document today, but a digital identity used for banking, government services, and many other important purposes. If your Aadhaar doesn't have an email address linked to it or you need to change your old email address, now is the time to update it. UIDAI has currently waived the fee for updating your email address through the Aadhaar app.
Email update free till 31 December
According to the official UIDAI Office Memorandum, the fee of ₹75 for updating the email address through the Aadhaar App has been waived until December 31, 2026. This facility is effective from July 1, 2026.
This means that during this period, there will be no separate update fee for adding an email ID or changing the old ID through the app.
Earlier, a fee of ₹75 had to be paid.
According to UIDAI, the standard fee for updating demographic information, including email address, at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre is ₹75. However, a special fee waiver is currently available for email updates through the Aadhaar App.
Therefore, this facility is especially useful for those who just need to update their Email ID and want to avoid going to the centre.
How to change Email ID from Aadhaar App?
First, download or update the official UIDAI Aadhaar app on your smartphone. Log in to the app using your Aadhaar number and the relevant process. Then, select the option to add or update your email ID.
After entering your new email ID, complete the verification steps in the app and submit your update request. UIDAI has made the Aadhaar App available for Aadhaar-related digital services.
