October 2026 is a month full of festivals and holidays. Therefore, if you have any important bank-related work, it's important to check customer holiday dates in advance. According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks will be closed in October due to festivals, local holidays, and regular holidays in different states.
Holidays will begin from October 2nd.
Banks across the country will remain closed on October 2nd due to Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. After that, October 10th is the second Saturday and October 24th is the fourth Saturday, hence banks will remain closed. Since October 5th, 11th, 18th and 25th are Sundays, bank branches will remain closed on these days as well. Apart from this, there will be extra holidays in different states due to Durga Puja, Dussehra, Vijayadashami, Lakshmi Puja and other local festivals.
Banks will remain closed for maximum 12 days in Tripura
According to the information given in the RBI list, bank branches in the state of Tripura will remain closed for maximum 12 days in October. Festival holidays are on 2, 17, 19, 20, 21 and 26 October. Along with this, there are four Sundays and two Saturdays, making a total of 12 days of holidays. It is mentioned in the list that there are about 11 days of bank holidays in West Bengal, whereas there are 10 days of holidays in Gangtok.
UPI, ATMs, and online banking will remain operational.
Although bank branches are closed, customers will face no problems in conducting digital transactions. UPI, ATMs, mobile banking, and net banking services will generally be available 24 hours a day. However, if you need to clear checks or visit a branch in person, it's best to plan ahead, taking into account the holiday schedule.
