Operation Sindoor: Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai takes a dig at Pakistan, calling Asim Munir's promotion 'entertainment'

Former Director General of Military Operations, Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, has sharply criticized Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir's self-promotion to the rank of Field Marshal. He said India is viewing the entire process as "a form of entertainment."

What did he say?
According to media reports, while addressing a special media briefing in Jaipur on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Lieutenant General Ghai said, "What can I say about Field Marshal Munir's self-promotion? He will have to answer that himself. We have watched this entire process with some amusement." He explained that during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan had requested India to "stop," but Indian forces launched a well-planned and precise response, achieving all the set objectives and averting a protracted conflict.

It should be noted that in May last year, the Pakistani government promoted General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal, just days after Operation Sindoor. The Pakistani side cited the promotion as a reason for his "high strategic leadership" displayed during Operation Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunian-um-Marsoos. Munir became the first Pakistani Army officer to receive this honor since Field Marshal Ayub Khan in 1959.
