Passengers often worry about the quality of food served on Indian Railways. Finding a home-style meal or a favorite brand of food during long-distance journeys can be challenging. However, this problem has now been addressed through WhatsApp. In this technological age, passengers can order their favorite food from the comfort of their seats with just a message.
Whatsapp service features
Launched through IRCTC's official partner, this service allows passengers to connect with renowned brands like Domino's, Haldiram's, and Bikanervala. The biggest advantage of this feature is that it doesn't require downloading any bulky apps. WhatsApp messages are easily sent even during poor network conditions, ensuring seamless ordering. Additionally, passengers can track their orders in real-time.
Ordering Process
Ordering food on a train via WhatsApp is quite simple. You just need to follow a few basic steps:
- Contact Us: Firstly save the official number +91-7042062070 on WhatsApp or call 1323.
- PNR Verification: Enter your 10-digit PNR number in the chat box. This allows the system to receive the passenger's current status and train information.
- Station Selection: Choose from a list of upcoming stations where you want to receive your food.
- Menus and Restaurants: Choose the restaurant of your choice and the available dishes and add them to the cart.
- Payment Options: After confirming the order, you can choose between 'Cash on Delivery' or 'Online Payment' for payment.
Special attention to time
Time management is essential to take advantage of this feature. Food orders must be placed at least 60 minutes before arriving at the station where delivery is to be received. Placing an order an hour in advance gives the restaurant enough time to prepare the food freshly and deliver it to the platform on time.
This is a commendable step towards Digital India, making rail travel more comfortable and delicious. Passengers no longer need to rely solely on pantry or station food.
