Vivo has officially introduced OriginOS 7, its latest software platform based on Android 17. The new update brings a redesigned interface, smoother animations, AI-powered features and improved connectivity between Vivo and iQOO devices. The OriginOS 7 preview programme has also opened in India, Thailand and Malaysia.
The update is more than a visual refresh. Vivo is placing artificial intelligence at the centre of OriginOS 7, with its Jovi AI assistant designed to perform tasks across connected devices.
Jovi AI can work across multiple devices
One of the biggest additions in OriginOS 7 is Jovi AI, which Vivo describes as a cross-device personal agent.
The assistant is designed to work across compatible Vivo and iQOO smartphones, tablets and desktop environments. Through Vivo Office Kit, users can ask Jovi AI to perform tasks involving files and information stored on connected devices.
For example, a user could ask Jovi AI to locate a spreadsheet on a connected computer, analyse the information and provide a summary on their smartphone. The system can also be configured for certain scheduled tasks, such as organising files or compiling reports.
Jovi Security adds an extra layer of control
With AI assistants becoming capable of performing actions rather than simply answering questions, control and transparency are becoming increasingly important.
OriginOS 7 therefore includes Jovi Security, which records actions performed autonomously by the AI agent. Vivo says users need to authorise Jovi AI before it carries out key actions.
This could make it easier for users to understand what an AI assistant has done on their behalf.
New Dynamic Glow interface
OriginOS 7 also introduces a redesigned visual experience called Origin Design.
One of the highlights is Dynamic Glow, which adds new visual effects to the interface. Vivo has also introduced Origin Animation with Fluid Motion, including Spring Animation and Seamless Interaction features designed to make transitions feel smoother.
The changes extend across areas such as the interface, animations and system interactions.
Which phones will get OriginOS 7?
The OriginOS 7 Preview Programme has initially opened for the Vivo X300 Pro and select iQOO smartphones in India and other markets.
Vivo has indicated that the update will subsequently expand to additional devices, including the Vivo X500 series, the new Vivo X Fold and selected V-series smartphones.
The exact rollout schedule can vary by model and market, so users should check Vivo's official update announcements for their particular device.
AI is becoming a bigger part of smartphone software
OriginOS 7 reflects a broader shift in the smartphone industry. Software makers are increasingly moving beyond simple AI chatbots and adding AI systems that can understand information, interact with files and perform tasks across multiple devices.
