Pappu Yadav Demands President’s Rule in Bihar After Firing Incident at Paras Hospital

Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, has called for the imposition of President’s Rule in Bihar following a shocking daylight shooting inside Paras Hospital in Patna. On Thursday, four armed assailants entered the hospital and opened fire at a patient, killing him on the spot. The victim, identified as Chandan Mishra, was on parole from Patna’s Beur Jail where he was serving time in a murder case.

The incident caused panic among patients and medical staff inside the hospital. The proximity of the crime scene to a police station and a nearby police residential complex raised serious questions about law and order in the state.

Pappu Yadav Stopped by Police

When Pappu Yadav attempted to visit the hospital after the incident, he was stopped by police personnel at the gate. Reacting sharply, the MP launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar-led government, claiming that the state's governance machinery had collapsed.

He alleged that no one is safe in Bihar anymore—not patients, not nurses, and not even doctors. He announced that he would be meeting the Governor of Bihar to request the imposition of President’s Rule due to the deteriorating law and order situation.

Accusations Against the Government

Pappu Yadav did not hold back in his criticism. He claimed that the actual power in Bihar lies not with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but with BJP leaders and bureaucrats at the state headquarters. He accused the government of selectively conducting police encounters based on caste and shielding those involved in fake encounters.

According to Yadav, the leaders who claim to fight the mafia are themselves responsible for nurturing criminal elements in the state. He described Nitish Kumar as being “asleep” while the state slips into lawlessness.

A Pattern of Violence

Yadav also referenced other recent violent incidents, including the daylight murder of Gopal Khemka, to underline his claims of rising crime. He said that the fact such crimes are taking place near police stations shows the emboldened state of criminals in Bihar.

Call for Administrative Overhaul

Apart from demanding President’s Rule, Yadav urged the removal of senior officials posted at the state headquarters, calling them ineffective in maintaining security. He said that these officials should feel ashamed and be held accountable for their failure to prevent such incidents.

Background of the Incident

Chandan Mishra, the man who was killed in the hospital shooting, was accused in a murder case and had been released temporarily from jail on parole for medical treatment. He was attacked inside a private hospital by assailants who managed to escape after the shooting.

This incident has further intensified the political discourse in Bihar, with opposition figures using it as evidence of the government's failure to maintain public safety. The demand for central intervention through President’s Rule adds to the growing political tension in the state.
