The murder investigation of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya, initially thought to be resolved after the arrest of his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, is now taking a complex new turn. While Sonam and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha are accused and Raj is reportedly the mastermind behind the killing, Raja’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi has hinted at the involvement of three new individuals who could change the entire narrative of the case.

Vipin told the media that these three unknown faces connected to the murder will soon be exposed through police action, promising a major twist in the ongoing investigation. However, he has not disclosed their identities.

According to Vipin, on the day of the murder—May 23—Sonam was wearing a white shirt over a black T-shirt. During the attack, her shirt got bloodstained, and to cover her tracks, she allegedly threw the shirt away along with Raja’s body. She also reportedly took money from Raja’s pocket and handed it to the killers, promising a payment of 20 lakh rupees to carry out the murder. After committing the crime, Sonam and the accused fled, discarding a jacket about 8 kilometers away from the crime scene.

Sonam’s Family Distances Themselves, Puts House Under Virtual Lockdown

Since Sonam’s arrest, her family has severed ties with her. Her brother Govind publicly stated, “We have evicted Sonam from the house. Raja was my special friend, and I will do everything to see my sister punished.” Sonam’s family home has been effectively shut down, with her parents confining themselves indoors. Govind, meanwhile, is staying in a hotel and lamented losing his reputation due to the scandal.

Sonam’s Interrogation: Police Say She’s Playing Emotional Drama

Despite the confessions, police have yet to conclusively identify the mastermind behind the murder. Shillong DIG Eastern Range DNR Mark revealed that Sonam has been giving inconsistent statements and sometimes dramatizing her emotions during interrogation. She allegedly blames Raj Kushwaha, while Raj claims he masterminded the killing. Currently, both suspects are questioned separately, but the police plan to interrogate them together soon to clarify the truth.
