Rajnath Singh Witnesses Mid-Air Refueling on Australian KC-30A During Visit

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is on an official visit to Australia, where he received a grand welcome from Australian officials. On Thursday, he traveled from Sydney to Canberra aboard a Royal Australian Air Force KC-30A multirole tanker transport aircraft.

Air-to-Air Refueling Demonstration
During the flight, Minister Rajnath Singh observed the mid-air refueling process of an F-35 fighter jet. Officials on board explained the entire procedure, highlighting the strategic capabilities of the KC-30A. India and Australia had signed an agreement in 2024 allowing the Indian Armed Forces and the Royal Australian Air Force to conduct air-to-air refueling exercises.

Warm Welcome and Ceremony
Upon arrival in Canberra, Rajnath Singh was welcomed by Australia’s Assistant Minister for Defence, Peter Khalil, and Chief of Joint Operations Vice Admiral Justin Jones. Later, Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles honored him with the traditional “Welcome to Country” ceremony at Parliament House, a gesture recognizing Australia’s indigenous custodians and symbolizing friendship and reconciliation.

New Defense Agreements in the Pipeline
During his visit, three new defense agreements are expected to be signed: the Information Sharing Agreement, the Maritime Security Agreement, and the Joint Military Activities Agreement, further strengthening India-Australia defense cooperation.
