Ranbir Kapoor is set to make a grand appearance as Lord Ram in the upcoming epic film Ramayana, which is being made in two parts. The first installment is slated for release on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027. With a combined budget of ₹1600 crore—₹835 crore for the first part and ₹700 crore for the second—Ramayana is one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.
According to recent reports, Ranbir Kapoor is charging ₹75 crore per part, totaling ₹150 crore for his role as Lord Ram. This fee surpasses the previous record set by Prabhas, who portrayed Lord Ram in Adipurush (2023) and reportedly earned ₹150 crore for the entire film. However, Prabhas’ Adipurush, despite its massive budget estimated between ₹500-700 crore, faced criticism and underperformed at the box office, earning around ₹393 crore worldwide.
Sai Pallavi, playing Mata Sita in Ramayana, is said to be earning ₹6 crore per part, amounting to ₹12 crore in total. The film is produced by Namit Malhotra and has created significant buzz due to its scale and star cast.
While there is excitement about Ranbir Kapoor’s role, some fans remain cautious, fearing the film might meet a similar fate as Adipurush. Only time will tell if Ramayana wins hearts and breaks box office records.
